2026 SCCBA Andrew Hamilton Trophy Round 4 - Perthshire v Bon Accord

14 Jun by Cameron Millar

Bon Accord travelled to Rattray BC to face the section leaders Perthshire, in what was a vital match for both teams.

The rink draws produced the following line-up

Rink 2 - Callum Work v Liam Wilson
Rink 3 - Roy Henry v Mark Biondi
Rink 4 - Eric Gallan v Jordan Baptie
Rink 5 - Martyn Orchard v Iain Miller
Rink 6 - Jak Miller v Peter Hosie

Clouds and a drizzle in the air greeted the players. It was a cautious start to the game as both teams traded shots without neither team being able to take the initiative.

By the end of the first quarter (5 ends on each rink), Bon Accord led 27-24 and the rink scores were

Gary Forbes 4, Scott Pirie 3
Callum Work 1, Liam Wilson 6
Roy Henry 3, Mark Biondi 5
Eric Gallan 9, Jordan Baptie 3
Martyn Orchard 6, Iain Miller 2
Jak Miller 4, Peter Hosie 5

Into quarter 2, and once again the game continued in a similar manner with both sides of the scoreboard ticking over and very little separating both sides. By the ends of 10 ends played across all rinks, Bon Accord increased their lead to 6 shots at 52-46. The rink scores now read

Gary Forbes 9, Scott Pirie 6
Callum Work 5, Liam Wilson 8
Roy Henry 6, Mark Biondi 8
Eric Gallan 12, Jordan Baptie 8
Martyn Orchard 10, Iain Miller 7
Jak Miller 10, Peter Hosie 9

Moving into the 3rd quarter, it was the home team who upped the pressure and first cleared the deficit and then built a lead of their won as they won the 3rd quarter 38-22 to now lead by 10 shots! Rink scores after 15 ends read

Gary Forbes 18, Scott Pirie 7
Callum Work 6, Liam Wilson 18
Roy Henry 10, Mark Biondi 14
Eric Gallan 15, Jordan Baptie 14
Martyn Orchard 12, Iain Miller 14
Jak Miller 13, Peter Hosie 17

Bon Accord now required a big last quarter to maintain their hopes of defending the North Section Trophy.

Over the next 18 ends, Perthshire increased their lead to a potential match winning 19 shots.

Despite outscoring Perthshire over the last 18 ends, the deficit was too much to make up and when the dust settled, Perthshire secured their 4th consecutive win by 113-104.

Final rink scores were

Gary Forbes 22, Scott Pirie 11
Callum Work 12, Liam Wilson 22
Roy Henry 13, Mark Biondi 21
Eric Gallan 24, Jordan Baptie 17
Martyn Orchard 17, Iain Miller 20
Jak Miller 16, Peter Hosie 22

Congratulations to Perthshire and all the best for the remainder of the competition.

Well done to the rink and big scoreboard markers. And also to those working in the kitchen for the post match meal and the bar throughout the day.

Well done to Keith Edment and Stephen Tennant who received their 3 cap 'goody bag' of Bon Accord tie, blazer badge and label badge.

We now sit 6th in the North Section with 3 matches to play.

We return to action next Saturday with a home match against City of Dundee at Balgownie BC.
