2025 Bon Accord Under 25 Singles KO Sponsored by Slaters - Semi Final Results

The semi-finals of the Under 25 singles were played tonight at Polmuir BC to decide which two players would contest the final at the Bon Accord Finals day this coming Sunday at 12 noon.

In the top of the draw, John Mackay (Whitehall) who this season won Bowls Scotland District 4 gents junior singles and gents singles titles, as well as making his debut for the Bon Accord senior county team faced one of Polmuir’s up and coming youngsters, Megan Orchard, who at the weekend won the ADLBA girls U18 singles.

Over the first 6 ends, there was nothing to separate the players with the match score being 4-4, however end 7 saw John score a maximum 4 shots to lead 8-4. Megan kept in touch at 11-8 however a score of 3 extended John’s lead to 14-8, which shortly afterwards became 19-9. However, Megan never gave up and won the next 3 ends before John reached the winning post by a score of 21-13. Congratulations to John in reaching the final and also well done to Megan on her performance in what is likely to be the first of many semi-finals and probably finals in this competition.

In the second semi-final, the holder Ellis Adie of Whitehall faced home favourite Ellie Rendall. It was Ellis who took an early lead of 4-1 and he was still ahead 9-7 after 13 ends. End 14 saw Ellie score a full-house of 4 to move into the lead for the first time at 11-7 however Ellis soon levelled the match at 11-11. Given how tight the match had been, it looked at this stage that this match was going to go all the way! However Ellie had other ideas as she put a fantastic run together winning the next 5 ends and scoring 10 unanswered shote to win 21-11 and reach her first Un25 singles final. Congratulations Ellie and hard luck Ellis.

So our final on Sunday will see John Mackay face Ellie Rendall at 12 noon. This could be a great match with Ellie having the home support cheering her on!
