Bon Accord Under 17 Hat Sponsored by Evie & Jim Shea

17 Sep 2023 by Cameron Millar

The Bon Accord Bowling Association would like to thank Whitehall Bowling Club for the use of the green and facilities for the final round of the junior hat on Saturday 16th of September.

At this time we would also thank Newhills, Polmuir, Seafield and Woodend bowling clubs for the help and support for the juniors, and their hospitality and encouragement throughout the year, that is greatly appreciated.

Three pairs and one triple took to the green at 7pm on a cool but dry night. The anticipation of who was going to pick up the trophy was having an effect on their game as they were slow to get going this week.

First half of the hat was a very even affair with all teams being within two shot of each other. The lights went on and one team upped their game scoring a four & two on consecutive ends to push ahead. So after 12 ends of play one team had a plus seven shot victory, the three remaining teams recording -4, -2 & -1 defeats.

After nine hats, on five different greens, which is eighteen hours of bowling during this season, only 2 points separated the top three juniors on the scoreboard.

3rd Harrison Campbell 20 points +18 shots

2nd John Mackay 20 points +39 shots

1st Lucy Smith 22points +42 shots

Owen Jack presented the trophy on behalf of the sponsors, Jim and Evie Shea. Their support of this competition is greatly appreciated. We would like to extend our grateful thanks to both of them.

A huge thank you to Alan Petrie for the time you invest all year round with the youngsters. Also thanks to all parents and family members for the support you provide which is valuable.

Also, grateful thanks to our Match Secretary Cameron Millar for keeping us informed on Facebook.

Looking forward to next year’s hats, in anticipation of another year of fantastic bowling.

All the best for our under 17s for the indoor season.
