Andrew Hamilton Trophy Week 5 - Bon Accord v Aberdeen & Kincardine - Report

Bon Accord were hosts for today’s match against Aberdeen & Kincardine, at Whitehall in a top of the table clash. Bon Accord were looking to get back to winning ways after last week’s one shot defeat.

In wet conditions, Bon Accord made a good start going into an early 18-12 lead after three ends played across all six rinks, with Kevin Harper scoring a five on the second end. In the match between Andrew Thomson and Jason Banks saw two consecutive ends being burnt!

With 5 ends played across all six rinks Bon Accord led 30-23 and the individual rink scores were:

Into the second quarter, Bon Accord kept the pressure on as Stephen Thomson’s rink scored nine shots over two ends! With ten ends completed across rinks Bon Accord had extended their lead to 62-44. The rink scores were:

On to quarter three and despite A&K trying valiantly to close the gap, Bon Accord maintained their valuable lead at 20 shots. With 15 ends completed across the board, Bon Accord led 90-70 with Bon Accord up in four and down in two. The rinks scores were:

Onto the last quarter with the match,two points and leadership of the North section at stake! Over ends 16,17 and 18, A&K started to close the gap and got back to within 9 shots to leave Bon Accord supporters feeling nervous about the remaining ends. However, yet again Bon Accord showed their mettle and over the last two ends they out-scored A&K by 15-4 across all the rinks to secure an excellent win by 122-103.

There are now two games remaining in the North section and qualification remains firmly in our own hands as we top the section on shot difference.

We now move forward to next week when we host Perthshire at Woodend next Saturday 15th June at 2pm in another important game.
