Andrew Hamilton Trophy Week 3 - Bon Accord v Angus - Report

Bon Accord returned to home turf at Balgownie BC for today’s visit of Angus, who had lost both their opening games.

In overcast, with very light rain conditions, Bon Accord got off to a good start with Kevin Harper’s rink scoring a 6 on end three. After 5 ends played across all the rinks, Bon Accord led 29-23 and the individual rink scores were:

Kevin Pirie 3, G Milne 7
Alan McKay 2, N Herron 4
Roy Henry 6, A Fuyre 1
Ross Forbes 5, M Wilson 5
Andrew Thomson 3, D Garvie 3
Kevin Harper 10, M Stewart 3

Into the second quarter, and Bon Accord put the foot down, scored heavily and effectively won the game. Both Kevin Pirie and Kevin Harper’s rink went on runs of winning seven successive ends!

With 10 ends completed across the board, Bon Accord led 87-35 with the rinks scores showing

Quarter three saw Bon Accord continue to press home their advantage and to increase the lead and build up the shots difference.

With 15 ends completed across the board, Bon Accord led 123-53 with the rinks scores showing

Roy Henry 14, A Fuyre 11
Ross Forbes 16, M Wilson 15
Andrew Thomson 19, D Garvie 5
Kevin Harper 33, M Stewart 5

Onto the last quarter and could Kevin Harper’s rink get to 40 shots? Could the 150 shots be achieved and could all 6 rinks win?

The 150 mark was achieved by 19 ends across the board. Kevin Harper’s rink got to 40 shots on the penutimate end of their match and all 6 rinks wasn’t decided until the last match and last bowl – however all six rinks did win!

The final score was Bon Accord 165, Angus 86.

So 3 wins out of 3 and a maximum 6 points on the board.

We now move forward to week 4 when we travel to Aberchirder to face Highland next Saturday 1st June at 2pm.
