Andrew Hamilton Trophy Week 1 - Bon Accord v Buchan - Report

Bon Accord opened their 2019 Andrew Hamilton Trophy campaign against Buchan BA at Newhills BC with a narrow win by 124-120.

Bon Accord started well and after 30 ends had established a 33-25 lead. By the 60 end mark Bon Accord had extended the lead to 15 shots at 62-47.

The third quarter saw Buchan stage a strong comeback and with 36 ends to go the Bon Accord lead had been reduced to only two at 86-84.

With only 10 ends to go Bon Accord led 115-113.

Buchan then took the lead 117-119 with only 5 ends to play and still led with only 2 ends left at 119-120.

Kevin Harper’s rink then scored a three on their last end to nudge Bon Accord two in front at 122-120, which left Ross Stewart’s rink to defend a two shot lead.

Ross Forbes drew two shots only to see Buchan skip David Anderson burn the end. Onto the replayed end and Dave Cobban-Shaw got in first for Bon Accord and then Ross Forbes drew a second shot. David Anderson went very close to trailing the jack however Bon Accord scored two shots to win the match 124-120 and get our campaign off to a winning start and 2 points.

Final Score – Bon Accord 124, Buchan 120
