30 AUG 2018 | BY CAMERON MILLAR

With a number of call-offs from the original named squad for various reasons, a young and inexperienced squad headed to Edinburgh last Sunday to take part in this annual event that consists of a pairs, triples and four taking part.

Stage 1 of the competition is a group of fours counties of which the winner only qualifies through to the semi-finals.

This year, Bon Accord was drawn alongside Glasgow, Midlothian and West Fife.

The Bon Accord squad that took part was:

Abergeldie: – Ryan Davidson, Kyle Mackie
Newhills: – Liam Angus, Zac Morrison.
Portlethen: – Callum Work.
Seafield: – Ross Cowie
Whitehall: – Matt MacGeorge, Emma Reid, Owen Jack, Fraser Lambert

In our first game v West Fife we unfortunately lost all 3 games although the triples only lost by 1 shot.

Game 2 was against Glasgow, where again we lost all 3 games but the pairs only lost by 2 shots.

In the final game v Midlothian we won 2-1 with both the pairs & triples recording good victories and the fours only lost by 2 shots.

Glasgow topped our section and then lost in the semi-finals. The competition was won by Ayrshire who beat Dumbartonshire in the final.

A big thank you and well done to all the players, officials and supporters who travelled on the day.

More great experience for our youngsters.
