Scottish National Championships - Monday 24th July 2017 - Review

24 JUL 2017 | BY CAMERON MILLAR

So day 1 in the National Championships is over and how did our Bon Accord contingent do? Pretty good!!

In the senior singles, Davie Farquharson’s long wait to get to Ayr was worth it, as he won 21-14 v Whitburn to extend his playing stay at least one more day!!

Next up was the Kittybrewster senior gents fours of our own BA Secretary Sandy Beaton, Norman Perry, Jim Forbes & Les Coutts. They were involved in one of the day’s closest results edging through 15-14 v Lenzie!!

Finally our youngest representative, 15 year old Kieran Craigen (Woodend) faced up to an under 25 international lead but that didn’t faze him on the big stage. Although Kieran lost 16-21 he played some great bowls and gave a excellent account of himself. Only another 10 years at this age group Kieran!!

So what’s in store on day 2 for our representatives!!

Davie returns to play Maitland at 11.30am and
The Kitty quartet play Mount Vernon at 9.30am

Good luck tomorrow!!
